(i) We provide a platform for people with asthma and allergies to come together and work for their collective interest.
(ii) We act as a mouthpiece for Africans with asthma and allergy.
(iii) We offer voluntary medical services to people with asthma and allergies and assist them to be healthy, become pro-active, productive and self-reliant within the society.
(iv) We work hand-in-glove with the government of the day, local institutions, international organizations and philanthropists to provide moral, material and financial support to people with asthma and allergies.
(v) Partnering with the media to disseminate asthma management and prevention messages. Local television or radio- talk shows can host asthma educators or health care professionals to address community asthma awareness.
(vi) We work to ensure that the number of people who develop asthma, allergies, eczema, COPD and other hypersensitivities must be kept as low as possible, and those with such issues be ensured optimal quality of life.
(vii) We educate asthma patients on how to treat and control asthma, for example, on what to do if they have an attack while not having an inhaler with them at that point in time.
(viii) We identify, plan and manage community projects aimed at promoting quality of life and the socio-economic welfare of people with asthma and allergies.
(ix) We work to ensure that medication and medical equipment like inhalers and nebulizers are readily available to people with asthma.
(x) We increase awareness about asthma and allergy among health facilities to ensure that the quality of what is offered to patients continually improves.
(xi) We campaign to ensure a better indoor environment devoid of pollution in kindergartens, schools and workplaces.
(xii) We work to mobilize funds for health personnel to receive training in asthma diagnoses treatment and preventive measures.
(xiii) We raise awareness about exposure to various irritants and substances that trigger allergies.
(xiv) We raise awareness about important allergy-friendly features like avoidance of fixed carpets, cleanliness, smoke free environment, proper ventilation system etc.
(xv) We make research to regularly update data on the true prevalence of asthma in our countries so that governments become aware of the implications of this increasing disease burden and to investigate the relative importance of underlying risk factors such as rising urbanization in their policy and health planning responses to this challenge.
(xvi) We organize lung function tests for people. These tests may include: Spirometry; Peak flow; Methacholine challenge, Imaging tests, Allergy testing; Nitric oxide test etc.
(xvii) We Africa educate people on types of allergies like food allergies, seasonal allergies, skin allergies etc.
(xviii) We train some of our members to become asthma educators.
(xix) Asthma screenings, asthma education materials for parents, school-based or web-based asthma clubs for student with asthma and their families, friends, teachers and other school personnel promote asthma awareness and demonstrate successful clinical outcomes.
